The Oklahoma Bioscience Association – OKBio -- is a new, not-for-profit, statewide membership organization created to advance the growth of Oklahoma’s bioscience cluster.   OKBio represents the fulfillment of a key recommendation of a 2005 Battelle study on Oklahoma’s bioscience sector commissioned by the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce:  that Oklahoma should form a statewide association to provide a focal point and driver to advance the state’s bioscience community.

OKBio’s membership and support comes from entrepreneurs, research institutions, foundations, economic development organizations, and individuals from across the state who want to see Oklahoma’s emerging bioscience sector grow, prosper, and gain national and international attention.

OKBio brings together Oklahoma’s diverse bioscience community, which encompasses biotechnology, medical devices, pharmaceutical, plant and animal science, bioenergy, research institutions and those businesses that provide critical services and products to bioscience companies.  In collaboration with partners statewide, OKBio will work to:

  • build the image of Oklahoma as a bioscience leader
  • build productive networks and partnerships in the biosciences
  • build a stronger research base and encourage commercialization
  • increase access to investment capital
  • attract and develop entrepreneurial talent and a skilled workforce
  • build a bioscience-friendly business climate

As OKBio grows, it will provide members opportunities to:

  • network with other companies, professionals and service providers from Oklahoma and across the country
  •  exchange information with colleagues and gain valuable insights at member forums
  •  learn from experts at workshops and conferences designed to address the varied interests of Oklahoma’s diverse bioscience community
  • educate the media and key opinion leaders on the importance of Oklahoma’s bioscience sector
  •  advance policies that promote the success of the bioscience industry
  • work with statewide partners to gain better access to workforce and capital
  • stay up to date on issues, legislation, events and stories that deal directly and indirectly with bioindustry through the Association’s web site
  • participate in key committees working to build a stronger organization
Working together, OKBio members can ensure that Oklahoma’s bioscience sector achieves visibility, recognition, and influence in Oklahoma and beyond.
